Not-Sketchblog 5: A Scanner Derpy

So bad news.... My parents' scanner doesn't seem to like my computer.
D8

So until I figure out how to get it to work,
the sketches won't be uploaded... sorry. :(

Not-Sketchblog 4: On The Road Again

Again, I know...
Sorry for the not-upload.
I was on the road with Sara all day,
and am finally at home. :)
But I'm tired. DX

I promise I'll upload the sketches I owe you all as soon as I can.

Thanks for your continued patience!

Love you all, and have a good night!

Sketchblog Edition 45: The Dreams In Which I'm Dying

I unfortunately didn't join Sara at Church today,
since I didn't have a very good night's sleep and woke up with a very bad stomachache.
I used my time to rest up and then work on several projects, though.
Hopefully God will forgive me. ^^;

I'm working on some collabs with certain people,
which I am very excited about.

The first is with Heidi,
and since we've both got red-winged female angel characters,
we decided that would be the best subject for our image.
I'll be doing the lineart and Heidi will do the coloring
(which is a really good setup in my own opinion, because her colors are phenomenal).
Here are some thumbnails I've been pumping out to work out the composition:

The other collab I'm working on is with Shiory on deviantART,
and she suggested doing something to do with my bird characters.
Even though I haven't really discussed it that much,
I really love the relationship between Darius (the Secretarybird) and Tawny (the Owl),
so I want to do something involving those two.
Here are some concept sketches.
They didn't turn out all that great, but I'll keep at it.

Today's free sketch is for my friend Hillary,
who is another Doctor Who-tard (I use that term affectionately :P),
and requested the Fourth Doctor.
I love his long scarf, and thought it would be adorable to draw him with his giant scarf draped all around him. :3
Hope you like it, Hillary!

This is just an image I had in my head.
I wanted to work on a short story involving this,
but I'm not sure I should at the moment.
I'll let it simmer for a while and see where it goes.

Well...
Now that it's finally finished,
and I already gave it to her,
I suppose I can finally post my birthday present to Sara on here.
A while back she asked me to do an illustration for her of her character in my story Randomia,
specifically in the style of another illustration she saw and loved.
It's been a while since I worked in watercolors (almost a full year),
so I decided to take up the challenge.

Here are some of the steps of the illustration,
from pencils...

...to colors...

...and at last to the final inked product.
You can see a larger version of it here.

Today was a bit more eventful,
if simply because I spent the last few hours with Will and Maggie on pizza, movie, and food-fetching excursions.
Prior to that I had just been gradually working my way up to Virus Level 18 on Hi-Speed in Dr. Mario.

Yup.
That's about it.

Thanks for reading, everyone!
Love you all and goodnight!

p.s. Tomorrow Sara takes me home! :)

Sketchblog Edition 42-44: Long Days And Longer Nights

So incredibly sorry for the delays, guys!

It's been... kind of a strange few days.

Coming back to visit friends in Marion is... surreal, to say the least.

Anyway, here are the sketches!

June 3rd (Thursday):

And the day's free sketch,
which is the 10th Doctor (David Tennant),
for Heidi:

June 4th (Friday):

This is the day's free sketch.
It's for my good friend Sara,
which also happens to be her Birthday. :)
She wanted Mesousa from Pani Poni Dash!,
shooting himself with a cork gun.
Happy Birthday, Sara!

And today's,
June 5th (Saturday):

The free sketch for the day goes out to Jill,
who wanted Alfred Jones (aka America) from the series Axis Powers Hetalia.

Just trying out some wing designs for use in different projects.

It's a little hard for me to upload this next sketch,
simply because it's me venting some confused feelings,
and dealing with all these conflicting thoughts going on in my head and heart.

But I'm going to upload it anyway,
to share that everyone deals with hard times,
and art is in fact a valid way to deal with it.
Art can convey emotions that words never could.
Words can only go so far to begin with,
because if you write words,
people will doubt them.
It's easier to believe images than words,
because while almost anyone can write words,
only someone who has experienced certain emotions can create an image as a result of them.

That being said,
take this image with a grain of salt.
It is only me expressing emotions I can't convey in words.

Sorry if this entry has been a little weird.
I've had a long week and I'm finding myself more and more exhausted earlier every day.

Thanks for reading!
Love you all, and goodnight!

Not-Sketchblog 3: Wha- Happund?

Again,
my apologies.
I have the sketches for today and yesterday (June 3rd and 4th),
but it's been a crazy full day so I'll have to upload them tomorrow (fingers crossed).
Forgive me!!!
T^T

Thanks for sticking with me!
Love you all, and goodnight!

Not-Sketchblog 2: An Even Longer Day

So....
Sorry to do this to you guys again,
but I got up early, then had a really late night out with Sara,
and couldn't get back to the house in time to upload the sketchblog.
I'll update tomorrow morning, I promise.
I have to apologize (especially to today's free sketch requester, Heidi... you'll see your David Tennant tomorrow).

Sorry again. :(

Thanks for your patience!
Love you all and goodnight!

Sketchblog Edition 41: Have A Good Day At Work, Honey

I was awoken at 10 this morning by a text message,
and couldn't get back to sleep after that due to a major headache and itching and watery eyes.

That's right....
allergies hit full-force.
Or should I say...
"fur-force"?
PUN.

Ahhhhhh anyway.
Sara and I eventually went out for lunch at Fazoli's
(though it was more like linner because it was 3:00 by the time we actually ate),
then did some grocery shopping so I'd have my own food of choice to eat when she wasn't around.

When we were out, she got a call from her boss telling her she needed to come in earlier,
so we rushed back to her house so she could get ready.

After she left, I was given prime creative time to do my sketches.
Here they be:

Was just kind of playing around with this one while watching House of Five Leaves.

Today's free sketch for MagnusXL,
who requested the Time Lord from SaGa Frontier.

Some quick gestures to try and figure out a pose for a project I'll be working on this week. ;P

Spurred on by a conversation between Tyler and I. :(
Trying to figure out which haircut I should get this Summer.
Choices: A- short and close against the head, B- short and a little choppy with more volume, C- just cut the bangs and let the rest grow out.
What do you all think?

Anyway,
That's all I have for you today.

Thanks again for reading!
Love you all and have a great night!

p.s. If anybody is close by to Marion, IN, you should let me know so we can do something! :P

Sketchblog Edition 40: Orange Diamonds

June 1st:
Today was a very long and exhausting day.
Then again, traveling for half the day from the South to the Mid-East America will make anyone worn out.

Got up later than I wanted to,
and while I was in the shower,
the new tenant (who is subleasing Kate's room for July and August) came to see the house.
That was kind of a complicated mess we had to arrange last-minute,
but fortunately it all worked out in the end.

I packed up some more things then went out to lunch with Lilly and Vanessa at Barnes BBQ.
Their Grouper Basket there is amazing,
and the Hush Puppies that come with it are to die for.

In homage to my leaving Savannah for the Summer,
here's a mournful Southern Drawl Cat.

Tim asked me to illustrate this conversation we had about me being hungry on the flight and eating the plane.
He said I was like some kind of Emily-monster. XD

The flight provided plenty of opportunities for some prime sketching.
Here's just some alien-chick design utilizing a costume concept inspired by the movie Prince of Persia.
Don't be fooled- those aren't high heels... Those are her actual feet! D8

At one moment during the flight,
I looked out my window and saw a huge billowing cloud that inspired yet another creature design.
Here's a rough sketch of it.

After some minor delays,
I finally got into Indianapolis around 9 pm,
and Sara was there to greet me as I made my way to baggage claim.
After a long embrace, we picked up my luggage,
then headed off to get Tim to go out to dinner at Steak'n'Shake.

There, I drew more Southern Drawl Cat,
which Sara immediately recognized without me even shading him in or inserting the speech bubble. :3

We hung out at Tim's for a little bit before going back to Sara's house.
It was a very long night.

Today's free sketch was for Shiory on deviantART,
who requested the character Alice from Pandora Hearts.
Her hair reminded me of cat ears, so I took it and ran a little with it.
Enjoy!

I was up most of the night with a bad foot-cramp,
but managed to walk it off and eventually get to sleep around 4 in the morning. XD

That's all for the day.
I'll try to upload today's (June 2nd's) sketchblog on time tonight. ^^;
Sorry for the wait!

Thanks for reading!
Love you all!

Not-Sketchblog: Long Day

So yes, there will not be a sketchblog uploaded today (i.e., June 1st),
but I assure you there was much sketching done during the very long day.
I was traveling most of the day and am utterly exhausted after reaching Indiana.
Seeing old friends is always fun, but overwhelming as well since there's so much to catch up on.
Anyway, as soon as I get up and going tomorrow morning,
I will scan and upload the sketch batch from today for you.

Thanks everyone for your patience!
Love you all, and goodnight!

Sketchblog Edition 39: Jake Yodelayheehooly

The last day of May.
The last half of this month went by so quickly!

Today I got up early and groggily saw Heidi depart for her flight home.
Afterward was a very sad moment since all the excitement of such a busy weekend came to a sudden halt.
However, I went back to bed and slept the loneliness off and woke up feeling fine.

Lilly and I tried a new pizza place in Savannah called Marco's,
and as delicious and amazingly cheap as it was,
the grease pulled a number on my stomach.
As we were shopping afterward, I started to feel the pain,
and had to have her take me home early.
Scratch that place off my list of restaurants in Savannah I can eat at. XD

At least I drew this dragon-dino-rabbit thingy while I was waiting for the pizza. :P

I started packing today,
which is always overwhelming.
The prospect of packing doesn't intimidate me necessarily,
but the mere thought of preparing my house to be empty for a little while puts me ill at ease.
Things should work out though.
Either our roommate will move out and my friends in Savannah will watch over my place,
or we'll get a new tenant to sublease the room for a couple months until we return.
Both ways will actually work out since Kate (who's moving out) knows the guy that responded to my ad.
Anyway, that's all settled and it's quite a load off.

Another thing I was worried about (though not to the extent of leaving the house empty),
was having transportation back at home.
I was thinking about shipping my moped back but it would be so expensive that I might as well just buy a new moped to keep at home.
I'm going to be getting my license anyway, so I may actually just hold out for a car. :P

Later, Vanessa and Lilly and I went back out for dinner at Ta Ca.
My tummy was still a little upset so I only had miso soup and an order of Philadelphia Roll.
Surprisingly, I ate all of it (with the exception of the tofu and seaweed that Lilly gladly consumed in my stead).

After that, Lilly and I went to Target while Vanessa went home,
and then hopped over and met back up with Vanessa for a movie at Victory Stadium.
We saw Prince of Persia, which was entertaining enough,
though there were a lot of problems with it
(such as continuity, cinematography, dialogue, fight choreography, etc.).
Still, it was fun.

Hey look,
here's more Torishou!

Today's free sketch is for OffColor on deviantART.
She requested her character Poe, who seems pretty awesome.
He has a sweet face tattoo.
:3
Enjoy!
That marks the last of May's free sketches!
Wow!
How amazing was that!
Be on the lookout for more free sketches starting June 1st!
The theme this month is "Fanart!"
(There are still some slots available, if you want to request one.)

The Guest Sketch of the day is from Lilly again.
While we were waiting in her car for the movie to start,
she wanted to sketch, but didn't have her sketchbook on her.
So, I let her borrow mine for a little bit.
Here is the result:

Thanks for the contribution, Lilly!

Almost done packing now.
Just have to wait till tomorrow for the last tidbits.

This time tomorrow, I'll be in Indy with Sara. :)

Thanks again for reading!
Love you all, and have a great month of June!!!
